Juan Flores started out as a prep cook working in Greek and Italian restaurants for 15 years in New York City before coming to Connecticut.
In 2004, Juan worked 2 jobs to support his family. He worked for Occum Pizza and Joy's Country Skillet. In 2008, he became the full time chef for Joy's Country Skillet.
In 2010, Juan was given an opportunity to take over and purchase the country skillet and re-branded to Joy's Family Restaurant serving authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is currently operated by Juan himself, his wife, 3 daughters, 2 sons and of 2 grandsons.
Joy's Family Restaurant has earned the reputation by being voted the BEST BREAKFAST in Norwich, CT for several years. It was also featured in CT Magazine for Bargain Bites and has also won Norwich Magazine readers’ choice in 3rd place for BEST BREAKFAST. Joy's also received honorable mention for BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH and BEST DINER.
